Hungry hungry grabbers

Friday, July 8th, 2016

We have been exploring and sorting colour by grabbing and sorting balls outside. AW said he was the ‘winner’ because he had more. The children’s control of the grabbers improved as they sorted and some children spent over twenty minutes at the activity. Well done!

The children had a session in their new classroom on Tuesday. Here are some photos of the rooms to use with at home to remind your child what their new classroom looks like and where things are. Clicking on the photos makes them open in a new tab and you can zoom in.image

Thank you for coming to our sports day

Thursday, July 7th, 2016

We had a fabulous time at our sports day on Wednesday. The morning and afternoon children enjoyed racing together and showing their families their running, balancing and negotiating space skills.

Thank you to all of our families who came to cheer on and support the children. Here are some of the photos from our special day.

Next week we will be learning through our interest in Thomas, trains and toys that can connect together

Saturday, July 2nd, 2016

The fire station role play area is still popular but most of our other learning areas have been updated, ready to help the children learn through their love of  Thomas Tank, trains and connecting.

You can support your child’s learning at home by:

  • talking about train rides you have been on or trains you have seen. Look at photos of train journeys you’ve had if you have any. Talk about different types of transport. How would you get to a friends house, town, Meadowhall or a holiday place?
  • watching an episode of Thomas and Friends together. Why is Thomas a good friend? Who are your friends?
  • listening to and singing together our song of the week ‘Down in the Station’ on this site http://www.bbc.co.uk/learning/schoolradio/subjects/earlylearning/nurserysongs/A-E/down_at_the_station
  • exploring magnets at home. Look at the seal on the fridge, fridge magnets, purses etc. How do the magnets help? Why are they needed?
